Tucked away in the lush green surroundings of the Film City area in Goregaon, the Conservation Education Centre (CEC) of BNHS offers a rare chance to experience a forest ecosystem right within Mumbai. This protected forest landscape was given by the Government of Maharashtra to the Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS) as a token of gratitude for over 100 years of dedicated service in conservation and environmental education.

The forest is a safe abode to an incredible diversity of life, including leopards, various species of deer, birds, reptiles, amphibians, insects, and a rich variety of native flora. Trail options for different age groups

A combination of the Karvi Trail and Leopard Trail is ideal for children above 5 years and families looking for an engaging forest experience.

For groups with younger children, the Temple Trail is highly advisable, as it offers a gentler and more comfortable route while still allowing participants to enjoy the beauty and biodiversity of the forest.

For those looking to make the experience more adventurous and physically engaging, the trail can also be extended to include the highest Salim Ali Point, adding a rewarding challenge to the outing.

One of the most special aspects of the Conservation Education Centre is that each season brings a completely new colour, mood, and experience to the forest.

• Monsoon adds a magical charm to the trail, with the flowing forest stream, lush greenery, and unique monsoon flora and fauna that come alive during the rains.

Group size

To ensure a meaningful and comfortable experience on the narrow forest trails, an ideal batch size is up to 15 participants per expert.
