Tucked away in the lush green surroundings of the Film City area in Goregaon, the Conservation Education Centre (CEC) of BNHS offers a rare chance to experience a forest ecosystem right within Mumbai. This protected forest landscape was given by the Government of Maharashtra to the Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS) as a token of gratitude for over 100 years of dedicated service in conservation and environmental education.
With the aura of the primitive jungles that once covered our city, this forest is a thriving natural habitat and a wonderful space where both children and adults can slow down, observe, and connect with nature in a meaningful way.
Why this trail is special
The forest is a safe abode to an incredible diversity of life, including leopards, various species of deer, birds, reptiles, amphibians, insects, and a rich variety of native flora. Every walk through the forest reveals something new — from tiny creatures under leaves to bird calls in the canopy and signs of wildlife hidden in plain sight.
This trail is ideal for those who wish to explore nature at their own pace, making it a beautiful experience for families, school groups, and nature-loving adults alike.
